Lurker
Hi

My phone is samsung galaxy s-7582.

after every few minutes i am getting notified to update the firmware.

when i click it to install it gets install.

But again after sometime it tells me again the firm ware has been downloaded.

Then again i clicked it and installed it.

First time it was -30 MB
then - 40mb
then - 60mb
then - 8 mb

This has been happening again and again.

Is it normal with you guys also.

Also some apps like gamezone, s-connect, surfing meter, danger dash, nova3, block breaker3 have been downloaded and installed.

Are these above apps safe ?

How can i know or check that firmware is getting updated ?

Thanks
Vineet

Hi Jvook

i went into setting -> about device

It shows
Android Version ->4.2.2

before updating also it was the same.

The kernel version has only changed. What is this kernel version ??

Is kernel version and firmware same or both are separate ??

Thanks
Vineet

Kernel is the linux core that runs "underneath" Android. Firmware I would use to describe lower level stuff, such as the baseband. These can be updated independently from the Android ROM or each other.

Over the Air updates are sequential patches. If for any reason you've missed a few they will install one after the other like this. I've seen other Samsung owners reporting the apps you name appearing in an official update, so I think this is legitimate.

Hi

any idea when will android 4.2.2 version gets itself updated to higher 4.4 or 5.0 version ??

i thought it would automatically change after downloading these updates but it didnt happened.

thanks
