Help Firmware update not working

Turosyth

Lurker
I have recently connecting my Galaxy S to Samsung Kies software and it informed me that the firmware could be upgraded. Naturally I clicked it. It asked me to back up my contacts, just in case, so I proceeded to do so. I then clicked upgrade and BAM! Nothing happened. I can keep clicking firmware update, and it keeps asking me to back up my contacts. But then nothing happens. Well, except once it said something wasnt responding and it was forced to close. I dont understand this.

i am beginner in all this matter and i confirm
i can't update firmware from eclair to froyo through
samsung kies. having w7 ultimate.

I did it on a phone without selecting backup (I did not have much to lose anyway). It was all there once completed anyway. If you're on 2.1 there is a backup for contacts that does not existing in froyo 2.2.

I would recommend powering down the phone completely first. Wait for 10 sec to be sure it off. The power it back on (you essentially clean booting it). Turn off WiFi, 3G etc since you don't want data activities fouling up the process.

Same as above - Kies (When it does connect), is telling me there is no update :(

Why!??!

the tablet just shows me an error message, I try a hard reset and I can not restore it, or know someone has some options available to restore my tab galaxy?
