First Android / HTC newbie - M9 vs E8 (sprint)

JMH12

Lurker
Hi Guys,

So as the topic suggests I'm moving on from my Blackberry (insert joke about being stuck in the past) and finally coming through to android.

HTC seems like the right choice, not too big and very positive reviews..

I was pretty dead set on the M9, until I started reading the SPRINT reviews. While the phone has high critical acclaim, it is torn apart by sprint reviews saying it has terribly poor battery life (super important to me), drops calls, turns on apps by itself ect.

The E8, on the other hand, has much higher reviews and seemingly much more battery life?
What do you guys recommend? What have your experiences been with the M9 vs E8?

Things like slight camera improvement don't matter to me. More just the function and daily life of the phone.

Thank you! :)

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS JMH12 ! :thumbsupdroid:
How is the quality of service (connectivity) during a typical day?
A weak data &/or WI-FI signal will kill any phone battery life.
I'll leave the user experience replies to those on SPRINT.
FWIW,I get kick-ass battery life on T-Mobile & running an aftermarket ROM (VIPER,it's stock HTC Sense-based w/a lot of cool features).

Thank you KOLIO. See I've personally never had connectivity problems with blackberry. This is potentially based upon where the indviduals on sprint live?

If you're saying you get kick-ass battery life that relaxes me a bit. Can you explain a bit more about viperone? Does it just adapt customizable features or attribute to added battery life?

Both T-Mobile & Sprint aren't the best with signal penetration in buildings, everyone's mileage may vary.
At one time, some mfgs devices were known to be better than others regarding connectivity, but, nowadays, I think they're all more or less equal.
If you're Blackberry on Sprint does just fine w/connectivity, you should be OK with the M9 in that regard.

As for the VIPER ROM, root is required, & according to HTC, root in of itself doesn't void any warranties, but, installation of aftermarket ROMs may, not sure.
Anyhoo, VIPER has added features not found on the stock M9 & is tweaked for performance & battery life, you can actually make the performance tweaks yourself, but, I leave it as is, tweaked by the VIPER development team.
