First foray in Free Apps Paintball 3d

Please take a look and I would love any constructive criticism and reviews of my first free app in the market.

Paintball 3D.

Thanks in advance!

I could never get the crosshairs to lift from the bottom of the screen. I tried inverting the y-axis and it had no effect.

Downloaded it and played around for a little bit. I am also an avid paintball player and play several times a month. This app is entertaining for a little bit but then it becomes redundant and I don't want to play it any more.

Device: HTC Evo 4G

Problems and Suggestions:
>It is a bit laggy when moving the crosshairs around. It may be just my phone but other apps were working fine after this app closed so I don't know.
>Use a better image file for the crosshairs, you can see white pieces from the background where it was cut from.

>Make different game modes that will entice users to play more than a minute.
>Use a high score system, encourage competition.
>Have two views: Crosshairs, paintball gun
>Simulate the drop of the paintball as it travels. Us paintball players know that it never stays level, it always dip.

Hope this is helpful. Feel free to PM me if you need any more help/feedback if/after you update it.

Thanks for the comments I'm stlll learning. I've heard the comments that some were not able to control the cross hairs. They are supposed to move based on tilting the axis in the x and rolling in the y. I'd like to know if you select new game thru the menu it will reset the orientation to how your holding it when selected. Does that help.

I've been thinking of a "tutorial" screen that "teaches" the control and one big bulls eye and when you hit it then starts the game. This would have tips and tricks to controlling the crosshairs. And let you touch thru or something

My ultimate goal it to take the concept to a 3D scene and make it multi-player via wifi. Lots of learning to do..

The movement of the cross hairs worked fine with me on the first try.

I'm not too sure about a tutorial, the game is too simplistic for me too imagine what exactly would need explaining...The bullseye at the start of the game would be a nice touch.

Lastly, I'm not too sure how multi-player would play out with the game as it is. To make the game multi player, you would probably need to make it first person and use a touchscreen joystick for movement....

just some thoughts..

I've updated the app. I did put a bit of instruction at the beginning. I had some folks over and try it and they always said ... how do i control this... oh well...
There is a button to jump out of the tutorial/calibration screen.

Also I cleaned up the cross hairs and shrunk the size on some graphics.

I did code some size specifically for a 1024x600 screen so I may need to re-do some of those to accomodate some different screen sizes better.

Next I'll make some different scenarios, high score with 100 shots, beat the clock etc.. I may try to keep the scores online and try that to see if I can make a web based score

Thanks

Hey, So I just tested the new one out.

Firstly, love the intro screen that features the Tippmann A5, which is the marker I use to paint ball :D!.

I like the fact that you have multiple backgrounds, but don't see the point of the target practice background that really. It would be nice to see some woodsball represented in the BG, the primary BG is an example of speedsball (not sure how familiar you are with the sport).

I like how you cleaned up the crosshairs :) but I found the same problem with the app logo (still has white spots around the main images).

I'm not too sure how advanced it would be but I do think that to venture into the multiplayer domain, you would need to have an on-screen joystick&button combo...just a side thought.

If you need any help, feel free to PM me. I can find images, and I'm great in photoshop. I'm also a paint ball player so that may help ;)

New version is available,
I've now switched to an on screen controller which seems to work MUCH better and is intutitive.
Added a holster and 4 pod limit.
Cleaned up some more icons etc..

Check it out.. Love the feedback folks!

I saw the update just now. I love the new layout, I think it is much better like this. Love the pods idea. What is that thing beneath the bold holsters?. Also, what is expert shot?

I like how you account for the drop of the pb as it shoots.

Could you possibly add an adjustable sensitivity meter in the options? Not necessary now but it would be if this goes into the multiplayer realm, IMO.

Otherwise this is really good! Glad that you're making good progress, keep it up :)

Just got a new update done. I moved the distance and ball drop to the Expert mode. Also better multi-touch handling! The fire is pretty rapid so I may need to slow that down a bit. Also put some cool new "screen shots" for the market search!

That thing below the holster was to be a speed -reload press but it seems un-necessary.

Thanks for the inputs!

WOOHOO finally got a new version ready. The big change is the entire "3D Lab" Lots of learning and googling about vectors, normals, opengl es and 3d math!! If you use the menu select "3D Lab" and you'll have a chance to play with the real 3D first player mode in development!

Please give a few stars if you like the progress!
