First minor annoyance with the phone

Before I start with the negative, let me state that I'm really enjoying this phone so far. There's one thing, however, that annoys me slightly. The phone seems to take excessively long to die once it hits the low battery marker (red). I hit this marker around 2pm yesterday and the phone is still running right now, with less than 2% to go.

Is this just a sign that the phone needs to be calibrated to a full battery cycle? Or are other people experiencing this same 'issue'?

It just seems like a waste to have that much reserve time.

let it go until it shuts down itself, then charge it to 100%. The phone & battery should be calibrated. After that tho you shouldn't let it get down that far as it will eventually affect the overall life of the battery. In fact, Li-Ion batteries like incremental charges.

So you are unhappy that your phone lasted longer than you expected? I disagree that that is a minor annoyance.

My guess is you didn't use the phone very much after hitting 15%. Not sure what your problem is.

Thanks! You answered my question. :)

Avoid completely discharging lithium-ion batteries

If a lithium-ion battery is discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, a safety circuit built into the battery opens and the battery appears to be dead. The original charger will be of no use. Only battery analyzers with the boost function have a chance of recharging the battery.

I've seen mine down all the way to 2% as well and it didn't shut off. I just plugged it in. I'm not sure if it goes lower or not...my old phone shut off at 5%

That is not true with our phones. The battery has a protection circuit built in that prevents it from fully discharging, when the phone says the battery is dead you will still be able to charge it.
