First post happens to be when phone stolen.

Well this sucks I've been subscribed here since I guess November and rooted my Droid (the simple root) I don't think I really have any tracking apps for it other than GPS, Google maps, and QIK maybe if they use the camera.....anyway heres the story, basically last night we had a decent sized party so about 2-3a.m. the last 2 people leave note the phone was still here before I went to the computer room as they were leaving, 5 minutes later the guy reenters and says he forgets something....so I'm about to go off to bed and it's gone. searched the house for 2 1/2 hours or so. (sucked went to bed at 5 up at 7:30) so yea. Deactivated that ESN and activated my old Omnia....I don't suppose theirs anyway to track it is their? Oh yea the phone was almost dead last night as well so good chance it's dead by now.

So I guess I'm asking you opinions? my other roommate and his girlfriend have barred anyone from coming over until it comes back up.

Like I said it's one of 2 people, I suspect the one that came back in later since the other guy was too drunk to form proper sentences much less walk to the door.

is their anything I can do? I don't suppose the Cop's can do anything since I'm not sure....

I have insurance (the $7 ins) but would rather not pay $90 if I don't have too.....but $90 is better than $600...

anyway let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance,

Ivan Maple

Hmmm....not sure if you join google latitude....You might be able to see where your phone is? Anyone chime in on this?

Might as well file a police report. Next time make sure you install Mobile Defense on it so you can track the bastard if it happens again.

What I wonder is why are your roommates bringing over shady people? When I use to have roommates the rules were not to bring shady people over and if someone brings someone over and one roommate has a legitimate reasoning then the friend needs to leave.

well I was right, it was that guy that drove the other drunk dood home, I went up to the police station and that was funny. Apparently the guy has had priors and the officer I talked with just so happened to have been their his last time(s) arresting him and gave the guy a call. During that phone call the guy has no idea where in the world my phone might be so I told the officer basically, y'know I really don't care to press charges/file a report if he just gives the damn phone back, So later last night he called my roommate and was like i'm sorry I haz it. So I get it back and can finally get rid of this stupid Omnia that keeps resetting and takes literally 10mins for a GPS lock (driving thru dallas last night was fun) anyway I guess I'll have to get on setting up a few programs so I can trace It if this happens again o.0 thanks again guys! It's been helpful to have some Ideas on what to do etc. :)

That's pretty good that you had a helpful copper like that... I can't imagine them being that useful here.

next time report it first and make a police report. Ask them to contact Verizon and verizon can locate the phone via cell tower triangulation. The police will know what address it's at. This happened at work this summer with a BB storm. Only the company pressed charges for destruction of property because the guy broke into a locker. Because the device was valued at over $500 it became a felony ( at lest that's how the story reached me )
Also look into wave secure, it's free for life IF you sign up before Jan 31.

I just don't understand why people steal verizon phones. They are paper weights once reported stolen. What a silly way to get a record.
