Apps First Time Entreprenuer

Do what tradesmen usually say to me when I ask for a quote. They say "what's your budget".
Seriously though, it depends on a few things. Like the complexity of the project. Some types of app are simpler to implement than others. We had a web contractor that we employed for a very short time, because he charged us £500 a day! An app typically takes a lot of time to complete. It can be a big project, so I'd charge for the job as a whole. But I have little idea what the going rate is.
Plus, what is your capability and skill? Are you an expert? People will pay a premium for recognised skills.

Here's what I found (from what I'm doing, it says, $3,000 - $8000: I'm not an expert; if so, I would know how much to charge):

The question you've asked here is equivalent to asking someone to build you a house, and expecting to get a price, based on that description!

The cost of the product depends on the specification. If you want an app that says "Hello world", that won't take me very long, and will cost you very little.

You've said nothing about the features required. Those numbers you quoted in the above article are rough guides. How many hours you actually need to spend developing this depends on a lot of things. For example

- What's your skill level?
- What's the specification?
- How much time will you have available to spend on it? Is it part time, or full time?
- What's your relationship with the customer?
- Is it just you working on it, or will you have help?
- Does it involve graphical elements, such as icons. Are you able to create these?

Thanks for taking the time to input. My experience level in mobile programming is zero. I do have programming experience. Based on the article, I told her that I would charge $500. I haven't created anything but "Hello World" using the Android Studio. All excellent questions to consider. It's a delivery app. Basically, a page with product, a page with a map, and payment processing. It's just me part-time. The deadline is Sep/Oct. Never met the customer; she reached out to me. I'm working on creating my own app. Graphics should just be uploading pics of products like a menu. It will function similar to Postmates, Lyft, etc.

Congrats on getting the contract. I would suggest that you work with the customer initially to establish how the app will look, and workflows. Mock-up screens are great for this, even sketches on a piece of paper, which allow you to get some very quick feedback, just to make sure you're on the same page. This frames the overall scope of the project, in terms of what is to be delivered. You can then flesh out the details in further designs, and decide how best to go about implementing it.

You're reading my mind (I used to be both a Business Analyst and System Analyst) I was searching for the last two days looking for a free app to do the mock-ups; suggestions? I want to avoid paper if I can. I've been reading about Agile Development as well. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

I tend to use drawn sketches myself. There are probably some online tools you can use, and many offer free trials. Sorry but I haven't used any of them.
