Flash 10.1 upgrade is HUUUUUge, why?

I've been getting an option to upgrade my Flash 10.1 when I go into the Market, but when I installed it I was dismayed to discover that it had "eaten" over 12mb of my internal phone memory (HTC Desire on FroYo). Usually installing an upgrade simply overwrites the older version and takes very little extra memory, but in this case the update is much bigger than the installed version. Anybody else found this with the Flash update and able to explain why it's taking up so much more room, and more importantly has anybody found a way round this (other than not updating which is what I intend to do at the moment).

Thanks,

Steve.

That is why I avoided the update. But now Im being forced to update every time i go to the market its right there telling me to update and its annoying as hell that I cant skip it. I too would like to know why its so huge when all it has is a few minor bugfixes.

I feel your pain Thomas. Earlier today I was notified of an update to another app so I went to the Market and, unavoidably, saw the reminder to update Flash, which also reminded me to check this thread. When I went back to the Market after reading your reply I found that somehow (probably my error of course) the Flash update had downloaded and was being installed. So I've now installed and uninstalled the update twice.

Interestingly I've been into Settings > Manage Applications > All and notice that Flash 10.1.72.7 is 0.00B in all areas. I'm assuming that this is because it's built into FroYo - certainly if I go to Adobe - Flash Player it's showing that I have 10.1.72.7 installed. Still hoping that somebody can enlighten us about this.

May well be that patch but we don't understand why it's so much bigger than the original install. Patches aren't usually 12mb on mobile apps.
