Flash MX 2004

I have Flash MX 2004. Never really mastered it, because it seems to be an
art unto itself (huge time committment) in learning. I've also been told it's a bit buggy. Is there a better alternative, less expensive, easier to learn, and less buggy?

I don't know if there is to be honest. Since Adobe bought Macromedia a few years ago, the most up to date version I believe is Adobe Flash Professional. But that's the very opposite of cheap. However I don't really know of a 3rd party program that is newer and more fully featured than what you already got.
