Root Flashing A2tude: Can any one verify this?

Before I do all this, I like the experts here to correct me where needed.
I collected this guide from various posts. Could not find anything on how to get back to v2.3.5 (*288 maybe?)

debugging mode on (settings/applications/development)
1) Downgrade to 2.2.3
Download the ...Ggingerbread.zip file with the stock ROM, and unzip it.
Copy the "dload" folder to the root of your SD card. This folder should have "update.app" inside it.
Power off, then press Vol Down + Vol Up + Power. The installation should take place automatically. When "Upgrade Complete" appears on the screen, Pull the battery and the SD card from your phone.
Replace your battery and boot the phone. This step may take a few minutes.
Once fully booted, reinsert your SD card and delete the "dload" folder.
2) Root phone
1- download the update.zip file
2 - connect your phone via usb (or use an sd card adapter). In your pull down menu, hit mount (or connect) to usb
3 - choose the correct drive that your phone is connected to (make sure that you can see your camera folder etc.)
4 - don not unzip the zip file you have just downloaded, place the entire zip on the main "menu" (root) of your sd card.
5 - disconnect your usb cable and wait for your phone to finish preparing sd card. (you'll see that in your notification bar)
6 - power your phone off.
7 - hold volume up and push and hold power until your phone boots into recovery. (about 5-10 seconds)
8 - using your volume buttons, scroll to update from sd card and press power to select.
9 - scroll to the "update zip" that you placed in your sd card and select.
10 - reboot and tadaa! Your rooted enjoy!
11 - download rom manager and run fix permissions. I was getting force closes and this took care if it.
3) Upgrade CWM
Boot your phone into fastboot - (VOL- DOWN, POWER, Hold for 10 seconds)
connect phone to computer via USB
navigate to the recovery dir CWM 4.0.1.4M865.zip (5.75KB) you downloaded and unzipped
Run the install script for your OS (windows)
On windows you should see a cmd prompt window flash up and disappear with a few seconds if install completed.
(or CWM 4.0.1.4.zip (8.28KB) ???)
4) Flash modded ROM
using CWM Recovery
???? how to ????
Volume Up + Power
Hold untill you are in recovery !
Now time to back up your rom !
On recovery use the volume keys to scroll up and down
Use the menu button to select and the back button to go back.
This will ensure you that you wont break your phone
(Make sure your sd card is mounted)
Once inside of recovery mode select backup and restore and then select back up.
Next, go to wipe cache patition.
Now, go to advanced and Wipe dalvik cache.
Now, go to mounts and storage, format following
Boot
Data
System cache

Now your ready to flash !
Go to install zip from sd card.
Choose zip from sd card now choose the Rom you downloaded.
After it flashes go back by pressing the back key
Now go back to the main menu and reboot
(Note reboot time should be a long time up to 10min)

5) Upgrade back to 2.3.5
???? how ????

All worked fine.
Some notes:
Step 1) Win XP/7 will not unzip the Gingerbread.zip file. Use 7zip
Step 3) It took several attempts tu run the scipt ("device not ready")
Step 4) I missed to copy the A2tude.zip to the SD ahead of time, so I had to take the SD out and copy the file using a card reader.
Rom flashed without a hitch.
Of course, Root Manager had to be re-installed, but it's all there. No flashing the recovery needed. After logging on to my Google account evrything else came back. And I don't miss the "Move" feature of 2.3.5 either

If you are going to install a new ROM, e.g. A2tude, there is no need to downgrade or root beforehand because installing the new ROM erases everything (provided you do it right, and if not, you'll likely have a malfunction). Besides, A2tude is already rooted and is already the downgraded version (2.3.3), just with some enhancements.

For A2tude:
1. Flash CWM:
Power off phone, then hold VOLUME DOWN+POWER for 10 seconds. The phone should remain at the Huawei logo. Connect phone to computer. Download and unzip CWM and run the installer script for your OS. If it doesn't work (e.g. the script hangs and never exits), make sure the phone is still on the white screen with the Huawei logo. Also, you may need to be logged in as an administrator (I know I needed to be on my Linux computer).
2. Boot into recovery, wipe phone:
Once the CWM installer completes, disconnect phone and pull the battery out. Reinsert the battery and boot into CWM (VOL UP+Power for 10 seconds, or until CWM menu appears). Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and confirm. Go to Mounts and Storage. Wipe /boot and /system (data and cache were already wiped with the factory reset). Chances are you shouldn't wipe /sdcard since this will be where the ROM will be.
3. If you haven't done so, copy ROM to sdcard:
Connect phone to computer. On the Mounts and Storage menu, choose Mount USB Storage. This will cause your phone's SD card to show up on the computer as a flash drive. Copy the ROM zip, then (from computer) Unmount or Safely Remove (or whatever your OS calls it). Unmount on your phone. Disconnect phone from computer.
4. Clear Dalvik Cache:
From the CWM main menu, go to Advanced, choose Wipe Dalvik Cache, and confirm. You may optionally Wipe Battery Stats (NOT required, though might help with battery life to do this on occasion).
5. Install ROM:
On CWM main menu, go to Install Zip From SDCard, then Choose Zip From SDCard, and select the ROM. Some ROMs may require you to Toggle Script Asserts before selecting the ROM, some will not require this. (my phone installed A2tude just fine without the toggle)
6. Enjoy!
From CWM main menu, choose Reboot System Now. The phone may (or may not) reboot several times. Rebooting will take awhile because it needs to rebuild the Dalvik Cache (needed to clear the old Dalvik Cache and rebuild for the new ROM so it will perform properly).
7. If a new version of your ROM comes out, rinse and repeat.
