Flashing LG screen and buttons

I really need advice to help fix my LG vm760 its flashing when charging. I also can't access my recovery menu by holding power, volume down, and home button. I can get it to pop up for a split second then starts to flash again. I've been reading several forums. None of them had helped.

BTW: I can not return to the manufacturer because, I've received the phone used as a gift from my older brother it use to be his. So i had it for a couple months worked very well. I've been grounded for 3 months and just got my phone back from my dad. Its been in his toolbox locked for the 3 months and it was never turned off or anything. He just took it out of my hands and locked it up.

Put it on the charger with the phone turned off and leave it for 24 hours. It should come back to life. (The battery definitely died if the phone was left on for a month. Charging a dead battery for a couple of hours barely sets it up for charging, it doesn't actually charge it yet.)

If not, the most likely possibility is that the battery was so badly drained from being left on until the phone shut off that you'll need a new battery. But without seeing the phone, it can't be any more than guesswork.

It did'nt work its been on the charger for a while. ill try a new battery soon.
