Flashing question...

I may get a unlocked phone or a phone from virgin mobile, and I wanna flash that phone to metro... but I heard that once flashed, you only get voice and text... And I wanna know if I could do something to magically make data work. BUT I may want to flash back to virgin too...

So I basically wanna know if I can make data work on metro network and if it can work on the virgin network again...

From what I've heard about it not every phone is flashable to Metropcs, compatible phones won't get data, and once you flash to Metropcs you can't undo it.
