Does anybody know if there is a way to change the phones technology as far as cdma to a gsm network. I want to buy an unlocked phone so i can take it with me when i leave the country, but i'm on verizon and the phones that you can buy for verizon are all cdma and from what i understand when you buy say an htc butterfly it's on a gsm network? Please help anybody????

Hi and welcome to Android Forums!

Posting your phone number in a public forum is an invitation to trouble for you... so I took the liberty of removing it before any trouble-makers can get it :)

To answer your question, no.

This has to do with the frequency band of the radios built into the phones. Trying to re-tune a CDMA device to operate in the GSM band would be like trying to pick up FM radio on your TV. They operate in completely different bands of the frequency spectrum. I know that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but it's the one I have for you :o
