You were looking at the specs for the UK version. It's relatively common for UK phones to have FM transmitters, I'm guessing because they don't limit FM broadcasting as much as we do here in the US. Apparently we don't like to have this in phones, even though music adapters from 10 years ago did this all the time, and only cost $15. Oh noes, some guy is going to have a pirate radio station broadcasting from his phone!
The chip is in the phone, but the US rom doesn't do anything with it, you won't even be able to tell it's there.
And no, you can't really get a rom for this phone right now, and you probably won't see any rom work for a long time. Go to XDA, and you'll see a rom or two POSTED, but if you consider them working, you probably believe me when I say my name is Michael Jordan.
