fonts

just wondering... do u do extensive searches on google and/or the forums before asking questions here? even a quick search of "fonts" within google play would have probably yeilded u some useful apps. a lot of questions u ask in the forums are easily found by utilizing searches. im not trying to b an asshole at all, its just that we like to keep the forums decluttered. asking questions here should b a last resort if u r having trouble finding the information elsewhere. i am always here to help though! ;-) as far as fonts go, they are fairly easy to change manually, but lucky for u, i kno of an app that makes it super simple! :-) i recommend Absolute System Root Tool. it has a nice, easy to use interface, and a lot of helpful utilities. the font changer gives u a HUGE library of different fonts to choose from, and gives u previews of each one. google it. :-) u can also find many other apps in play store to change ur fonts too. if u have ur own font u already wanted to switch to, u can do it manually in /system/fonts

ya, its hard to find a good font that is easy to read with this phone, but if u try a few different ones in that library of fonts, u will find a good one. i did! ;-)

if you trying use your phone it will be time consuming you will need a exaction program i use total commander total as my fille manager

Dracable, Absolute System Root Tool appears to be gone from Play. Can you provide a link? It sounds like a good app.

roadkill42, did you find a font that you like? I wouldn't mind a higher-visibility font.

anyone who needs the link to the absolute system root tool can PM me with a request for it. thanks guys!

divine, have u tried the fonts from DRAndroid? i thought they were pretty easy to read. thats what i was shootin for. theres soooo many fonts to choose from in Absolute. u will find a good one in there, im sure. its a bit tricky tho to get a good font on this phone that displays correctly. u want a font that is more "squished together" than others (less spacing between characters), but appears nice and bright. u will see what i mean when u try the Absolute utility. if anyone wants to post the name of fonts that seem to work well with this phone, that would probably help a lot of people out too! :-)

I currently have DRAndroid Lite v1 rev2 running on my main phone with its included fonts and they are decent. I'm happy with them and with the fonts in the stock ROM but if roadkill42 found one that meets his needs then I'd want to have a look at it for sure.

i got a dicent font on now easer for me to read every thing good except for the lock screen but other wise its good:-)

Cool. I found Dream_Orphanage in Absolute System Root Tool.

Now if I could just get Absolute System Root Tool to cooperate! I tap the "download" button and nothing happens, it flashes that I tapped successfully and wiggles as if I moved my finger but I'm sure I didn't (using androidscreencast and a computer mouse that I even held in the air to make sure my click was stationary). Of course when I click install it says "please download this font first".

Anybody have any thoughts on Absolute System Root Tool not responding to my tap of the "download" button?

divine, i just tried downloading that same font, and it worked fine for me as well. maybe it was the fact that u r using a different version of absolute root than we are. try downloading the copy of absolute root from the link i provided u. see if that helps.

I forgot about that. Sure enough, it works. Don't you love it when they put out a new version that breaks stuff and is generally inferior to the old one?

i know, right? lol! lost a lot of good apps that i really liked to shitty updates. :-P glad it worked out for u tho! by the way, here is a list of fonts that i hung onto. dont remember which ones were best, but it might put u on the right track to finding a good working font! heres the list of ones i tried:

Aller
Antipasto
Basic_Comical_NC
Patronne
ReSiple
Xpressive

do u like that font?
Yeah, it's pretty good. :)

What's even worse is when you need the update for a bugfix or feature but it breaks something else. An old version of ES File Explorer was great but its support for Dropbox was broken (presumably by changes at Dropbox); I updated to the latest version and now Dropbox works but they changed the interface.
