For the Techno Geek

Well if you take the width of a human hair to be 100 microns that corresponds to a 20 nm for the unnamed "component". Transistors smaller than that have already been made, but with current semiconductor approaches the transistor size doesn't scale down linearly with the feature size. I'd always be wary of predictions based on Moore's Law, since that isn't in any scientific sense a law at all (but seems, from what's written, to be what the author is using).

However, any time I've been in the Oude Markt in Leuven the people I've been with have been drinking much better beer than Stella - this is Belgium, after all, and Stella is the lowest grade of Belgian beer :)
