Help Force music players to scan directories??

It may be a silly question, but seriously, how can you force a refresh of your music in both the stock music app as well as Play Music?
Sometimes I add albums and they just don't show up in the players. Even tried restarting my phone.
I dunno if it auto scans the directories after a while, but so far, it's been 20 minutes and nothing.

Btw, since I'm on a Mac and there's no PROPER way to transfer files over (android file transfer has a pretty serious UI issue...) I'm using airdroid to manually move stuff into my extSdCard/Music directory.
Am I doing something wrong?

Btw the tracks are MP3s from amazon, so no DRM or other sillyness.

Yeah, they are in the music folder on the external card. It does pick the album up eventually, but there's a delay of quite a long time, which can be annoying if you wanna load up some tracks and get going.
Perhaps it's my custom ROM causing havoc (Omega 4.1.2)?

It happens from time to time. Sometimes the MediaScannerService just doesn't naturally execute. There are apps that will force a scan if you need...

i have omega rom(4.1.2) as well if u notice there is an app installed called Rescan media root run that it will scan the files and show u everything.

I use Jet Audio Plus and it has Rebuild Media Library in the preferences menu. If I add new music to my phone that doesn't show up I use it. Have you looked for that option in the program you use?
