Forced Logging Out of News Website

Hi all,

I have two Samsung tablets and one of my bookmarked websites is:

I regularly have to log in because for some reason the logged in status is lost. It's the same whether I just let the tablets sleep or switch off. The techie at DS is stuck for an answer except to ask:

Could your browser have some kind of cookie prevention that stops it from keeping you logged in? Can you enable cookies, or try a different browser?

I use Brave browser on one tablet and Duckduckgo on the other. Any ideas, please?

Thanks,

Ian

Check the settings of both to see whether they have options to delete cookies when the session ends or the app closes (a more general "clear browsing data on exit" will clear cookies as well as other things). If you have this type of setting enabled then if you close the app you will delete the login cookies. I'd expect switching off to have that effect, device sleeping shouldn't but if the browser is closed when you finish browsing that will.

Hi D and H,

The issue seems to be unique to this particular site; other log ins are OK, so it may be it being an unsupported browser (which also causes slight issues with my password manager). Looks like I'll have go to Chrome and see what happens.

Thanks again for the prompt advice,

Ian

I don't know what you mean, M. It seems to me to behave the same as other browsers on the tablets and PC except for the frequent loss of the DS password on the tablets. I still suspect the DS software because I've occasionally been logged out of Edge or Brave on the PC and Safari on the iPhone but DS claim it's not them. Anyway, swapped to Chrome on one of the tablets and will monitor both.

Thanks all, again,

Ian
