Forgot pattern

HELP!!!!!!!
I have a nexus 6 I haven't used for several months. Now I have forgotten the pattern. I entered all the usual suspects with no luck. Now, I have 3 more attempts before it wipes my phone. There are some files that are very dear to on the phone.
Does anyone know how to get around this so I can off-load these files? I am desperate.

the point of the security is to prevent some unauthorized person gaining access to your personal data. if there were work arounds then the security would be useless.

i know of no way to break this security.

That is what I was afraid of. Thanks for taking the time to give me the bad news.

One option you could try is to go to Android Device manager - https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager and see if you can reset the password
(I don't know if it will work, or if it will force you to reset the device - but may be worthwhile looking into, if you haven't already have done so)
