Format SD card as internal

Greets- The Android 8.0.0 Oreo opsys on this Motorola Moto Z² Force doesn't allow for formating the SD as internal memory and no allowance for the moving of apps to the SD card. Third party app (App Manager II) found a number of apps that can be moved but indicates that SD card needs formating as internal. Not provided as an option in settings. Does anyone know of an app or procedure that fixes this?

Tap the SD Card in Storage Settings, then the 3 dot overflow menu upper right, then storage settings. That's on my older Marshmallow Motorola though.

I would personally discourage using and encrypting the card as internal storage however.

See if you can free up other device storage for your larger apps. If you have to format the card as internal, make sure it's a good high speed card, a fresh SanDisk or Samsung are most recommended, rather than re-use an old card. Know you cannot remove the card again without wiping everything the OS has moved on to it. Also the card fails you may need to factory reset the device.

Greets- No such joy for selections of formating as internal storage or moving apps to SD in 8.0.0 Oreo. Jerking Motorola's chain got (in not so many words) I'm SOL, and they are not interested in fixing, helping, or suggesting work around. Noticed there is a Galaxy process that runs on laptop that will connect to phone and format SD as internal. If no one knows of something similar for my Moto I wonder if the Galaxy process would work or is specific to the Galaxy.

Welcome. You seem to be correct (obviously). I'm a bit behind the times. Stick around for better advice.
You will have seen why this is :

(from Motorola)
"IMPORTANT NOTE: The Moto Z2Force supports file-based encryption (FBE). File-based encryption allows different files to be encrypted with different keys that can be unlocked independently. File-based encryption cannot currently be used together with adoptable storage. On devices using file-based encryption, new storage media (such as an SD card) must be used as traditional storage."

Greets- Appears I may have answered my own question. Recently trolling the iNet found this:

How to format MicroSD cards as internal memory.
https:/www.androidpit.com/how-to-format-microsd-as-internal-storage#oreo

Plus the command shell that runs on a PC and communicates to the phone via USB is called ADB. Evidently formatting as internal memory is still available by command line, just no GUI representing it still exists. ADB info is:

How to install ADB and Fastboot
https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-install-adb-and-fastboot

Haven't tried it yet. Will report results here.

Documentation implies that "format as internal" is still available for Motorola phones. Webpage evidently hasn't been updated since the Moto Z² hit the market.

I saw that, but I have no knowledge of it. I was a first responder to what I thought was an easy question.

Most times a thread is picked up later by a moderator or many who answer regularly and know their stuff, but some get missed.
