formatting SD card

hi guys, if i format the SD card in my HTC 10 so the phone will read it as non external, will it work in an SD card adaptor for file transfer or will it only work in the HTC 10??

The card will be encrypted if used as adaptable storage and unreadable in anything other than the phone used to create it.
