Former Cliq user recommending Optimus V

Sorry if this is against the rules since it's somewhat off topic for the Cliq area, but I wanted to help some people out if possible.

I bought a used Cliq last year on Ebay to use on T-mobile. Long story short: I quickly grew tired of being stuck on 1.5. Then when Motorola finally updated to 2.1 it still lacked basic features like multi-touch and live wallpapers. And the phone was still sluggish and would not properly run many games. (Sure, not everyone is interesting in gaming, but I'm a huge nerd :) )

Long story short agian: got a used iPhone, used it on T-mobile for a bit and then bought an Optimius V on Virgin Mobile.

If you're not on contract and are happy with a midrange Android phone, then this phone and plan are an amazing deal in my opinion. The plans start at $25 a month which gets you 300 talk minutes, unlimited data and unlimited texts. I was paying 35-45 a month with T-mobile (due to their failure to block texts, which they would then charged me for) for only 500 mintues of talk, no data, no texting.

I can't stress enough how much more pleased I am with the Optimus over the Cliq. It has a slightly larger screen and seems much faster and responsive. And so far I haven't tried a game that doesn't run perfectly, although I'm sure some of the full 3d HD games may not run well if at all.

The only downside to some users would be the lack of a physical keyboard. However, I've been a huge fan of Swype since using the beta on my Cliq, and the Optimus comes pre-installed with it. So for me it's not an issue. And I actually like the more solid feel due to the lack of the keyboard.

The phone itself is $150. There is no contract, so you can cancel at any time. The plans start at $25 for 300 minutes. They also have a $40 for 1200 and $60 plan for unlimited minutes. And all plans include unlimited text and data.

TLDR: Looking for a better Android phone with a low-cost data plan? Get the Optimus V with Virgin Mobile.

And I know this might sound like a sales pitch, but I just want to inform people that they don't have to pay $60+ per month for a good smartphone with a data plan. (yes, I realize the unlimited talk plan is $60, but I personally don't use anywhere near the 300 minutes I get with $25).

Well as long as we are posting off topic...I happened to be in my tmobile store playing with phones, but honestly the cliq has the most comfortable physical keyboard, and with the 2.1 update installed I cant justify a new phone with features I already have. I dont care enough about live walpapers, but im sure there is an easy work around. for multitouch just googling it found me a few apk's to download if I get tired of swype or the htc mod keyboard.
