Fort Worth Charter Cable: losing connection

hi..

I am in Ft Worth Texas.. using Charter Communication Cable modem.

the last 2 weeks.. I have noticed it loses internet connection often throughout the day. most often middle of the afternoon, but it does happen at night too... most times it is for 5-15 mins.

when it happens.. all devices on the network looses the connection. I have tried to reboot modem and router as well as the devices that are connected. all the devices see the network fine and the connection is strong between the device and router.
only thing to do is just wait for service it to re-establish the connection between my modem and Charter (or at the charter HUB).

I think it is at the service providers side. I called them.. and they say it aint their side. I dont believe them. :(

anyone else experience this?

Is the cable modem actually yours or does it belong to Charter(you rent the modem as part of the package)?

Because if it's their equipment which is losing connection, then it's their problem and they have to fix it. However if it belongs to you, then you have to prove it's their problem. Usually by substituting another modem. So if you have two modems both losing connection all the time, then it most likely is Charter's problem.

If you think it's Charter's modem which is having problems. Disconnect all your networking stuff, routers, all devices, whatever from it, plug in a single computer and then see if the internet is still disconnecting. If it is then you'll have proved beyond doubt it's their problem and not yours.

I used to work for BT as a phone engineer, and one of the problems was subscriber's own faulty equipment causing problems. Things where usually much easier when the equipment belonged to BT, and the subscriber rented it. Then there was no argument and it was always BT's responsibility to fix it.

thanks for for the suggestions..

it is my modem... and I do not have a 2nd one to test.

but if it was the modem...
rebooting it does not help....

the connection will come back off and on.. with out notice or me touching the equipment...
only have to wait.

i guess the modem could be intermittent bug or hardware issue..
just seems odd to me.

My charter model was doing this a few weeks ago. I was renting, and they replaced it. It was the black modem that didn't have its name on it (not that it matters which one). Ive been online ever since.

i purchased both the modem and router... cisco....

it happens mostly (every day) during around 1pm to 3pm.. off and on.. but it does happen at night (few times) too,

if it was my hardware.. it would be all over the place (any time)... right?
