Found phone -SD card help find owner?

Found an old LG slider phone in the lake. It has an SD card in it and I see music and games and stuff. Is there any way to tell what the phone's number might have been, or any owner information?

If you don't see some significant stuffs, maybe you should destroy everything on the card and forget about it.

By saying significant stuffs, I mean photos, videos or personal documents.

If there is no simcard in that phone then the owner must have trowed it away on purpose. Look for the contacts in this phone and if you see a close relative number saved like father, mother or sibling name then try to contact them to find the rightful owner of that phone.

If the phone was found in a lake I doubt there's any chance of retrieving info from it. I'm sure that's why Karen was asking about the SD card, because the phone is dead.

Short answer, unlikely. It might be that the phone can back up such information, but more likely the card is just used for media. The best I can suggest is to look at the file names: anything that suggests contacts or phone book, or anything with file type vcard or vcf, might contain contact info. XML files may contain almost anything, but can be viewed with a text editor so if there's one of those you may be able to see whether it contains contact details.

On the plus side, if it only contains music and games it's probably not such a loss (unlikely to be the only copy of the music). People get more upset about losing pictures.

Facial recognition in Google or Facebook using pictures from the card might link relatives. This post =2 cents.

There are just a few pictures, none of people, and yes the phone was dead. There is a “MEID” number under the battery, it’s a Verizon phone so if I get time I might stop by a store and ask them. Pretty crappy music on the card :-) so I suspect it belonged to a young person. Thanks for the tips guys, appreciate it!
