Thanks for the question.

The game only looks at your Google account for the leader boards and achievements through google play games. We do not access or store any of your information ourselves... We only make use of Google Play Services like Play Games. The permission requirements aren't handled by Us, but through the game engine and Google Play.

Probably it's for data mining and monetization by the whatever company that makes the game engine you use.

The monetization network I make use of is Google Admob. The game engine I use is Epic's Unreal Engine 4. They are both widely used.
