Free MP3's - surely not???

I've just downloaded the 'MP3 Ringtone Maker' app from the Android Market, and it appears to let me download real MP3 tracks for free. How can that be?!?!?!! If that is the case - surely I can use the app to download whole albums for free???

Am I missing something here?!!?!?!

So other than the fact it is illegal - there's no catch with 'MP3 Ringtone Maker'?? Sorry - for what are probably basic questions - but I'm not that technical!!!

That would be just awesome, but i dont think this is the case here. Downloads for free will be every time crappy

Yeah, LuxLuthor is right. There are lots of apps that allow free MP3 downloads and they are free. Seems odd to me too. There are some that are illegal so don't go downloading every app that allows you to do this thinking you're okay. A few apps such as tTorrent allow torrent downloading and while torrents aren't all illegal to download, most are or are highly questionable as to whether it's okay or not.

Perhaps I should just avoid it and continue buying good old CD's - can't go wrong with CD's - and they're nice and cheap nowadays!!!!

lol do what you want. I'm sure he's right that it's legal. And even if it's not, the government and other agencies don't come after you unless you do it all day everyday and start selling and become really profitable.

The mp3's are pulled off of public domains, and that is why you are able to do this. It is the same as if you were to google a song and find the file for it.

I thought it was dodgy too, but the record labels involved can and do shut down/threaten public domain sites who offer music for free if they shouldn't.. Quality of the ones I got were on the whole pretty good. Still, one should always support favourite artists :)

The best way to do this is of course go to their gigs as the royalties from album sales are fairly low in most cases.

Keep music live!
