Free Ringtones Not Really Free?

Every time I go to a site that says it has free ringtones (Zedge, Ringdroid, etc.) it ends up sending me to a pay site that charges $9.95 per month, usually before I even get a chance to preview any ringtones. Am I missing something, or are they not really free?

Is that on your handset or your PC? I've just tried on both and I get to both pages fine.

If on PC, it sounds as if you have something malicious hijacking links etc. I'd recommend running a virus/spyware scan.

I always steered clear from sites that offer free ringtones back in my "winmo" days and before i could clip my own tone. I never felt comfortable posting my cell phone number on sites like that. it could be just me.

But RINGDROID! Man thats' the app to have!!!

I'm quite sure Zedge is OK, been around for a few years. Used to use that site for free themes and wallpapers for my old Symbian Nokias.

I have downloaded tons of tones from zedge it sends me to the 9.995 page every so often but I just go back to the previous page.
