free texting app?

right now i have virgin mobile and have unlimited text and data, but i was wondering when i ever go post paid again, do most peopoel pay for unlimited text? it just seems liek a waste cuz i hear that it doesnt cost the cellphone company even a nickle to send our texts...:S

i have a friend he uses google voice, like he calls with it and he says he can send unlimited texts for free!

is that prolly the best way to do it? or do most people just pay for the unlimited texts?

Get whatsapp. It's not quite unlimited free sms's, but anyone in your phone book who has whatsapp will be added automatically to a favourites list, and you can sms them for free. Similar to the BB concept.

Use HeyWire! It's awesome- free texting all over the world free, and not just app-app which is cool. You can text to something like any phone without the app in like 50 countries free too. There's twitter / Fbook in it too.
