Freezing Download Manager

I did a search, but didn't really find anything on point.

I am not happy that the download manager on its own starts downloading some updates (it seems really to love YouTube, and the updates usually break it, too).

Has anyone had any problems with freezing it? I'm rooted and have Link2sd installed, so it's easy enough. Just want to make sure it won't do something weird, like lock up the phone if I reboot.

Thanks for any insight.

I'd assume you mean the Play Store updating the apps. You could just go to Play Store settings and turn off auto-update on WiFi.

There are three options under Play Store. One is auto-update only on wifi, one is auto update any time (will use mobile data), and the third is never auto update. You probably have the 2nd checked.

Download Manager isn't technically an app. It's a system level service process other apps call for when they download. So whether if it's Chrome, Dropbox or Play Store downloading something, it usually goes through the DL Manager service.

You can actually set it to Never automatically install updates as well - you can even disable the update notification if you'd like.

Edit: and chanchan05 definitely said that in the post right before mine. Disregard. I'm still waking up. :p
