Freezing while idle

Hey
I've had a Samsung Galaxy s8+ for a few months now, and about once every 2 weeks it freezes in the middle of the night. I use my phone as an alarm clock, so this is pretty infuriating.

I'm not using the phone at the time it freezes, the screen is off and the phone is on standby, and even the clock will be frozen at the time that it freezes.

Does anyone have any insight? Everywhere I've looked, the freezing is usually attributed to using certain apps, however I'm not using any apps at the time & I can't see if any apps have opened while I'm sleeping because the phone is frozen solid & I have to hold the "power+volume down" button until it resets. Then it works fine for another 2 weeks.

Might be worth mentioning that I have app auto updates turned off.

Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks!

Just wondering, as you have auto-updating disabled is it a matter where nothing is getting updated or are you manually updating your apps?

Well this is interesting as it's only happening every couple of weeks. Any solution will be a real test since the time it's applied can't be determined to be effective or not for a several days.

This isn't a very solid suggestion but try wiping the system cache partition. It won't affect any settings or anything like that and it has no effect in any way to your data. You do need to boot your S8 Plus into into its Recovery Mode to do this though:

Again, I don't think it will solve your problem but it can't hurt to see if it does. Pondering if this is just an Android operating system problem or some (rogue) app triggering it.
Has this problem been happening since you got the phone or just recently? If just recently can you recall if some system update was applied just before, or some app you might have installed? If this issue goes back to when you received it, have you contacted Samsung or the retailer you bought it from? The fact it's happening every two weeks might indicate some issue with the operating system -- i.e. a corrupt update process or some system related script that's scheduled to run every 14 days continues to fail.
