Freezing

Can anyone tell me why my Android box freezes if I don't touch the remote for any length of time? I have to pull out the mains cable, wait a bit, re-insert and hope that it kick starts again.

Offhand I'd guess there can be either an issue with the software where the operating system needs attention (reinstall or a thorough reconfigure of the settings) or an issue with the hardware (from what you've described is could be an overheating problem so maybe better ventilation will help or if it's a failing component replace the box itself). This is all pretty vague speculation of course but could you provide more details please? The make/model I.D., Android version it's running, and if this problem has just started recently or been a long term problem will help.

The box is only about a month old. I bought it for my bedroom because I couldn't wait 2 months for Sky Q to be installed. I have just had a new Router and connected the box up to the new router and did an up-date of some sort. The time on the box is not correct either. When my husband stops watching Discovery, I will see what make it is and what details you want. Thank you.

If it's only a month old I would take (or send) it back to where you purchased it and ask for a replacement. You might want to spend the time to diagnose the problem but being so recent you should still be covered by some kind of warranty. If it's one of those bargain-specials from an otherwise unknown manufacturer I'd be wary though -- better to invest in getting a name-brand model with a history. A lot of those knock-offs are not known for longevity or fault-free usage.

Oh dear. I saw it in a Market and thought it would be ideal for my bedroom! I'd never seen one before. The man might have done a runner by now and not even be there! It says on the booklet OTT TV Box 4X CPU Cortex-A9r4 then underneath 8X GPU Mali-450. Is this any info or do I need to go into Settings to see what it says there?

I 'think' this is what you have:

Is the picture shown look the same as what you have?
A copy of a user manual for '8X GPU Mali-450' that was posted online didn't appear to be too helpful:

The only thing I can suggest is to go into the Settings menu and check/configure each option, especially any time related option (as you mentioned the displayed time is not correct). You might also want to double-check the current time setting on your new router, odd things can happen when there's a significant mismatch in the time between devices on the same local network.

Not quite the same, mine comes up on the tv while the box is 'booting' as MBOX. I will have another look at the Settings as you suggest. many thanks.
