friend died, his parents want me to completely backup his phone

I can get into the phone using the lockscreen bypass method but I dont know the screen lock combo, what I need to be able to do is backup the entire phone, messages, pictures everything, then be able to wipe the phone and put the stuff back on there like it was when he was alive. what do i need to do

If you don't have his gmail password, you can use adb to wipe the screen lock - IF the phone has USB debugging enabled. Otherwise I don't know of anything you can do - the alternative is to do a factory reset, which wipes out all the data.

Sorry about your friend.

You could try to recover the password if you know his gmail. and then just do the forgot password on the phone.

That's correct -- you won't. To back up everything on the phone, it must be rooted because the backup apps need root permission to access some of the folders.

I hope I remember it correctly, but I was able to access Helium without using the email. Give that a try.
