From Blackberry to Android

I just switched from a Blackberry Torch to an Samsung Stratosphere and have a lot to learn. This looks like it might be a good place to start. I am a long time Linux user which I have heard Android is based on but I know that doesn't mean much. Will start with a lot of reading and searching to see what I can learn before I start asking too many dumb questions.

Hello and welcome aboard the Android Forums. I hope you find the information on here to be helpful.

Install Terminal IDE and then you can Linux away to your heart's content! :)

No root required because it installs a complete system inside it's own account.
A compatible BlueTooth keyboard is highly recommended, (if you ever used vi before you will understand)

You can do classic Java programming, and you can also develop and deploy Android apps without the need for a PC.
