FROM google sync TO backup assistant

hi, so i'm really new here. and i've been searching for threads that would answer my question, and i've googled it, but i've found nothing :/
so, i have an LG Ally and all my contacts are pretty much loaded on my gmail account, but i have backup assistant installed because the VZ guy added it to get all my contacts from my Env2 onto my new android phone.
my question is how do i get all of my contacts that are now synced with gmail BACK to backup assistant?
it's sounds kind of silly but i want to make sure that all my contacts will be there for me in case i have to go back to my Env2 or another phone that does not support google sync.
Thanks in advance.

What I did that worked or me is go to contacts and hit menu and then got to the import/export option. I personally had a lot of contacts that were virtual contacts basically because they were simply Google contacts. I had 146 contacts that Back-Up Assistant was not backing up even though they were on my phone. So I exported the contacts to my SD card and them imported them to my Back-Up Assistant. When I forced the sync instead of waiting for the overnight schedule I have set up.... Bam they were all there. I assume you could export them to your SD card and then import them into Google because that was one of my import options. The other two were phone and of course the Back-Up Assistant I used. Hope this helps.
