Help Full Phone Backup

My phone is merging texts together, not receiving texts full stop, doesn't receive multimedia texts, 3G doesn't work etc etc. So i'm gonna send it back and see if they can fix or replace it.

So my question is, is there a way of fully backing up my phone so it's exactly the same when i restore it on a new phone (if i need to) without having to root it?

Well without root I don't think you can "fully"backup phone..only certain things limited..
With root as in my case I have a backup of the "whole/full" of my entire phone.. My apps, music, photos, even my settings, my system files > which I can now keep copy backup to dropbox cloud service (advantage of root)

Exactly. You need root access for what you are describing

I'm a n00b when it comes to playing with phones. Will it affect my warranty or anything like that (as i want to send it back)?

Also is it a fairly straight forward thing for n00bs?
