Help FX file Explorer - How to make a file write accessible?

20GT

Well-Known Member
I'm Rooted and using Androids FX file Explorer, to try to add a ring tone to the ringtones system folder.

/system/media/audio/ringtones

Would someone explain how to make the file write accessable or direct me to a link to how to do this?

OMG THAT thing is horible every 2 folders, it opens a full page ad that you have to click thru pages to close making it impossible to browse

Plus it didnt work I waited on the horrible ads, they are built to make you wait to be able to click thruu, pasted the file and its not there when i go back to it. So it has to be the same thing going on.

on both of them im sure you have to change the properties of that folder to write, but i dont know how.

That was the first root type file manager that came up, there maybe others. Of course I don't have a rooted device to test it on myself

it can edit it on my previous phone, just tested.
but on this phone it doesnt. is there an pemission that allows root on android?
if so how do i find it

Instead of trying to use a file manager app, try using terminal app to change the Permissions feature of that system folder.
Possibly chmod 644 /system/media/audio/ringtones
Read up and be judicious about which r/w/x permissions you use.

If you don't already have a preferred terminal emulator installed, suggest you try the Termux app, it's a very versatile terminal
