Help G1 applications installation issue

Hello. I have a G1 here and I'm a bit new to the android world so please excuse my lack of knowledge. My problem is with applications. I really wanted the weather & toggle widget or in other words the big digital clock that also shows the weather so I downloaded it online and transferred it to the G1 and I try to install it using apps installer but then I get a install unsuccessful error. Can somebody help me out on figuring this out. Sorry if im posting this in the wrong place, wasn't sure where to post this.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

If you downloaded the app from the internet then you'll need to side load the app onto the phone. This requires going into App Drawer -> Settings and telling the phone that it's OK to install unknown apps.
