Help g1 battery life

Is there any way to imrpove the battery life of the g1? The original battery dies out in about 5 hrs of use. I purchased the double sized battery and it isn't any better. I turn off wifi and turn my screen brightness to 0 and it still doesn't help much. I charged my phone to 100% battery and after 15 minutes its down to 75% or less.

I would suggest purchasing the portable charger and carry that with you at all times

It's also a good Idea to let a battery run down to 0 then recharge it then reapeat about 3 times it "breaks in" the battery

Your battery should last longer than that. Do you use the Traffic layer in Google Maps? If so, try switching Google Maps back to regular Map view and only use the Traffic layer when you need to check on traffic. I find the Traffic layer (even when Google Map doesn't appear open) increases my battery drain as it periodically send my location/speed anonymously for Google to use to help other drivers.
