This is my first post, and I don't know too much about technology, so please bear with me

I bought an unlocked G1 (Dev 1) form ebay, to use on a Canadian company that uses the same kind of network as T Mobile. When I first got it, things were fine, but gradually I stopped being able to receive texts. I can send them no problem, but do not receive any.
I called tech support, and they said I could get a SIM swap, which I did - no dice, didn't change. However I tried a factory reset (after backing up apps) and I received all my texts back, that were waiting to be received. I thought the problem was solved until a couple of weeks later the same thing happened; sending fine, receiving bad.
So is there something I should know about? I tried using Handcent and Go SMS PRO.
