Root G1 rom flashing, rooting, question

I know this is a newb question, i purchased a phone that has already been rooted and already has cyanogens froyo 2.2, its a great rom, but i was hoping for something a little faster like the super d1.11 . My question being, my phone is already rooted, and i have downloaded the files for the rom, all i need to do is change it to update.zip and place in the root folder of my SD? restart the phone and hold the home and end keys? do the other roms files need to be removed from my sd?

No

Make sure you do a backup of your current rom incase the new one dosent work out
