Help G1 welcome screen issues!

Hey, guys. Didn't know where to put this, so I just went with the lounge. I currently have a G1 with a broken touch screen - the screen works fine, but doesn't receive any touch input.

I need to get past the welcome screen but it wants me to 'click the android to get started'. Is there any way to bypass this?

Do none of the physical buttons on the phone itself work?

And yes, the physical buttons do work. I can't seem to select the android with the trackball, though.

I would say it needs to go in for repair then.

Not having the handset myself, I can't say for sure though, sorry. Maybe others who have the phone can comment.

hmm. is there any way to force a rom onto the phone?
