Galaxy A5 2017 Alarm still sounds when muted

Selecting sound mode Mute (in drop down settings) is supposed to kill all sound output but my alarms still sound. This is surely wrong - how can I fix it?

Alarm clocks will sound in mute. Nothing wrong with your phone, some phones will sound alarm when the phone is off!!

To mute everything including alarms, go to

• Settings
• Sound and notifications
• Do not disturb

Turn on, then make sure under the exceptions it should say "no exceptions"

Thanks.
But I have Do Not Disturb set up for overnight quiet, when I do want alarms. So I'd have to go through a multi-step reconfiguration of DND every time I want a silent phone for a short while, and that's not really a practical solution.

Maybe you can find an alarm app in play store that won't ring in silent
