Root Galaxy Ace - no internal space

Jokinha

Newbie
So I have a galaxy ace rooted and everytime I download an app I move it to my sd card via blackmarket.
however I only have 17Mb free in the internal store and I don't know why this is happening.
The only apps that I have in the internal memory are the ones wich cane with the phone and that should only be 20mb in total.
now i can't receive sms because i have no space in the internal memory, bit my apps are in the sd card.

what can I do?

It's not just apps that use internal space, their data do as well. Conversely the built-in apps don't, because they live in a different storage partition, though their data also share space with your apps.

Try seeing which apps are using most space, especially data space. You can view apps ordered by size in the manage applications menu, or else I find the app Quick System Info useful (lets you view apps sorted in many ways - sort by data size would be useful here). It may be that some of your apps are using crazy amounts of data.

Otherwise I suggest visiting the Ace forum (and All Things Root subforum) for device-specific advice.

Jokiha, I have moved this thread into the Galaxy Ace "all things root" portion of this forum since I think that is where you are most likely to get help with your phone issues.:)

You cannot do much with the space problem without rooting the phone.
There is also a hack in the sticky threads for force moving apps to sd card without rooting, you can give that a look.

Also clear your cache, use any cache cleaner from the market, that might free up a bit of space. Your space is most likely been taken up by app data and dalvik cache. App data you can clear through settings>application but dalvik cache you cannot clear without root access.

The phone has been rooted.

Thanks, i missed that.:p

Jokinha, you need to clear dalvik cache from CWM and clear cache using any cache cleaner app. Even with rooting the internal storage will keep on filling up.
You need to go for app 2 sd-ext methods if you want more internal memory.
Clearing cache is temporary solution, won't free up much space.

is app 2 sd-ext is possible on stock rom?

last time when i tried on stock rom i got mount error with all ext2, ext3 and ext4, it worked with FAT partition but was not able to move most of the apps.

is there any batter solution? though i am not planning to go for stock again :D

Yes its possible on stock rom, did you flash the darktremmor's script first?

You can try link2sd, it doesn't needs additional scripts.
Or you can go for Amarullz script, it needs no app, just flash the script and you are good to go. I am using is now with apocalypse rom, works like a charm.
