Lurker
I've just done a reset by pressing volume key and menu and then switching phone and I now have a pic of a green man saying forced upload by key pressing. It's been like this for an hour. Is this normal?

I needed to reset it because when I switched my phone on it would load but then would stay black with samsung on the screen and wouldn't load no further.

Help please!!

Hi,

You have put your phone into 'download mode'.

By pressing the 'home' (centre) + 'vol. down' + 'power' button together the message 'Downloading.... Do not turn off target!!!' will appear.

By pressing the 'home' (centre) + 'vol. up' + 'power' button together the message 'Forced upload by Key pressing' will appear.

In order to hard reset the phone and enter the Recovery menu you need to press and hold down the middle of the vol button, along with the menu button and then press the power button. Wait until the Samsung boot screen appears and then release the buttons. The Recovery menu will appear. Use the vol up and vol down buttons to navigate to 'factory reset' and press okay.

Thank you, I managed to get there eventually but now my phone is not recognising my sim card. I went into the 'about' section on my phone and it says 'network- unknown' and 'service state- out of service' and 'mobile network state- disconnected'. I'm on contract and my sim works in my partners phone. What's going on?

It sounds like the factory reset has deleted your network settings. You can either enter them manually if you know them, or contact your network provider to send them to you.
