Here are the steps.
1. Plug any device that that has the Gear Manager app installed into your computer.
2. Plug your Moto X into your computer at the same time.
3. Locate the Gear Manager apk file. On my Galaxy Note 3 the apk file was located in the Downloads Folder. Click Download Folder, copy the Gear Folder (contains the apk file).
4. Paste the Gear Folder into the Downloads Folder on your Moto X.
5. Disconnect both devices.
6. Install a free file manager. I use My Files.
7. Open My Files and navigate to the Downloads Folder.
8. Open the Downloads Folder. You will see a sub folder caller Gear. Click on Gear.
9. Installation will begin.
10. Voila !!!! You may now use your Galaxy Gear or Gear 2 with your NON SAMSUNG GALAXY Device. Do some research first if you like. Developers have done this successfully on various NON SAMSUNG GALAXY devices. I was successful and I am by no means a developer. I'm just a geek, like you.
