Galaxy note 2 or nexus 7 tablet?

anthocar

Newbie
Ok so I am helping launch Isis in austin and im getting rewarded with an ipad for hitting this months goal. iOS doesn't seem like a good fit though especially since it doesn't have an nfc chip in it (not to mention IOS sucks the big and hairy

I would be using the tablet to give presentations in the field (mostly isis commercials and filling out short application forms) and it would be nice to process a mobile payment to verify that its working after the reader is installed. Here is my dilemma...

Should I ask for a galaxy note 2 which I would probably get more use out of on a personal and organizational level or a nexus 7 which has the bigger display but wouldn't have the functionality of a phone?

Maybe ill get the ipad to sell and get both Hahahahaha.

What do u guys think?

Also if you can suggest a powerful phone with a big display that would be better suited to my needs than note 2, I would love to hear your opinions

Welcome to the forums, anthocar! :)
First, I guess I'd just be sure Isis will be compatible for both. Don't know much about the service as I've only used G Wallet. For your purposes, I'd go with an N7 for the larger display. It's not a HUGE difference, but would help for demonstration purposes. Problem is, you'll still need a phone. Nice part about the Note 2 (aside from being a phone) is the stylus could come in handy for those demos (writing notes and such).
Only other phone with a big screen like that, and NFC, is the LG Intuition. But, I can't say I'd recommend it. You can also hold off for the rumored HTC Droid Incredible X. Should have somewhere around a 5" screen but I don't believe it'll have a stylus.

As far as I can tell, the note 2 is going to be supported on verizon with no real way to tell since.it hasn't been released yet. The only verizon phone that's currently supported is the Droid incredible x, with Droid razr and another to follow.

I am thinking that vzw is really my only option because I have had terrible experience with gsm in both att and t mobile. This was about three and five years ago respectively. A good portion of my job is spent on the phone so call quality is a must and it just wasn't there when I had GSM networks. Can anyone vouch for those over vzw?

I am in austin btw I know regional location matters a little so any feedback here?

google is set to release the nexus 4 on the 29th... not sure what the screen size would be but the current nexus is 4.65 or 4.7in or so (i think) so the new one i think would be at least this, possibly bigger? also it comes stock with android 4.2 if the rumors are correct. might even be confirmed by now....
