Galaxy note 4 update to android 6

GSX1400

Newbie
Hello all.
I am running my note 4 on EE.
I have been told i should have got the update to android 6 by now but my phone keeps saying its uptodate on android 5.1.

I have downloaded the android 6 version for my phone but have no idea on how to update it with my pc.

Any help would be a god send for me as i am not very tech minded.

Cheers Karl.

How did you download the update for your phone? There are a couple of methods to update it, but first we need to now what you have? Where you got it would also be helpful.

I have downloaded 2 versions of android 6.
1 from sammobile and 1 from Samsung.

I have tried to upload both with odin while phone is in download mode but both did not upload.

Am i doing some thing wrong?

Cheers Karl.

A few details please ...

What is the exact model of your phone and which firmware did you download? Which version of Odin did you use? What error message did you get? Are you sure your PC recognizes your phone in Odin?

Sometimes it's because the firmware doesn't match the model, sometimes it's a driver issue and sometimes it's simply a dodgy cable. Hard to tell without more info.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F) factory unlocked and on EE.

The 2 firmware i download are as follows.

H3G-N910FXXS1DQI1-20170929110842.zip (downloaded from Samsung site)

N910FXXU1DQHC_N910FEVR1DQH1_EVR.zip (downloaded from SamMobile site)

Odin 3, v3.12.7.

Yes Odin sees my phone but as soon as i select file to upload Odin starts then just does nothing for hours.

I have a brand new genuine samsung data cable plugged in.

Did you extract the contents of the N910FXXU1DQHC_N910FEVR1DQH1_EVR.zip file before you tried to flash it with Odin? If I remeber the process from sammobile, the archive you get is a .tar or md5 file within a zip file but you have to unzip it first.

You also might want to verify the CSC to make sure it downloaded correctly.

It's the checksum that compares the original zipped file to the downloaded version to verify it wasn't corrupted in the process.

Here are the checksum results.

Ok.

Downloaded and run through Odin.

Please see attached screen shot of what Odin said.

I have seen several devices like yours in the past year. Someone will take a US Carrier branded phone, root it and edit the build prop so that it will show the international "F" version in Settings - About Phone and sell it.
The N910P is Sprint, US.
Don't think you will be able to update it as is.

If it is definitely a N910P, you might be able to install a custom recovery and find a custom ROM. Still maybe get opinion of local shop.

Can't see pic clearly on my phone, but thought I remembered it would show the model number of the phone that the IMEI was assigned to.
Narrowing down the correct model number may be a challenge but I bet my money on it being a N910P.
