Galaxy Note II or Galaxy S4?

NeoArashi

Lurker
So I recently broke my Samsung Galaxy S/'s screen (and shortly after literally lost the phone) and decided it might be a good time to get a new phone.

2 phones attracted my attention: The Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy S4.

I am aware that the Note II is less powerful and slightly more expencive, But the fact that it's bigger (I tend to buy bigger version of similar product, for example, I gave my Nintendo 3DS to buy a 3DS XL) and the whole stylus thing definitely makes thing interesting.

However, despite the Note 2 being more expencive, if I get a new plan, it's base cost is lower than the S4 due to the fact that it' older.<<Which one should I get? Also, I'd like to know the advantage each phone have over the other, if possible.

Neither. Wait a couple of weeks and get the Note 3.

Or wait literally 10 days and get the LG G2. Beats the S4 by miles.

I have a limited budget. Getting the note 3 will cost me too much. Even the S4 is borderline beyond what I can afford (the base price I mean, not the full price, in which case the S4 is more affordable)

Thanks for the info guys. I just chatted with an emplyee of my carrier, and he mentionned a very nice price for my new Note 2.

But... I'll be curious nonetheless. Going stricly spec-wise, which is going to be better? S4 or Note 3? I remember the S3 being slightly less powerful than the Note 2, but is this ''generation'' of Galaxy phone will have the same power difference?

Thanks for the info iTzKPanda

Well, I'll see when I get a day off (Next wendseday) then I'll probably get the Note 2.

Last 2 stuupid questions though.

1-Is the bigger display of the Note 2 over the S3 makes things look pixelated? I know the DSi Xl and the 3DS XL screen looks more pixelated than ther regular size counterparts (the DSi and the 3DS) but that's due to the limited space within the game cartridges. Will it be the same thing for my (if I get it) Note 2?

2- If my Note 2 get the same (ab)use as my S3 before I broke/lost it, will the battery last less or more time than my S3, assuming of course, that I do NOT get a defective unit.

If you like larger displays and don't mind a little less power, I'd go with the Note II.

Sorry for the double post here.

I just looked at the first two pages of the article you sent the link too. And while the article praised the superiority of the S4, the writer of the article was very fair with the Note 2 by mentioning the few advantages it has over the S4.

You see, with 6 GB limit of download with my plan, I can aford to watch youtube videos a LOT. And apparantly, if one can ignore the lower resolution of the Note 2, it's much better for watching videos (and I spend over 2 hours/day in a bus when I go to my job, so watching videos will be a major plus for me)

Thanks to that article. Now I won't ask any more questions. I'm definitely getting the Note 2

Well, I have both of those phones and they are both great phones.
It does seem that the S4 is just a bit snappier, but the Note2 is very quick.
I really think it comes down to weighing the larger screen size of the N2 against the newest motion features of the S4. Really can't go wrong with either one.

I'm wondering whether Panda misread this. From all the rumours I've seen (and I stress the word rumour) the Note 3 will be more powerful than the S4.

The question is, do you actually need something more powerful than an S4, or even a Note 2?

You'll note I also say "more powerful" rather than "better". The best is the one which better meets your needs, which ain't necessarily the one that wins the specs game.

The Note 3 will be more powerful then the S4. It's going to use the S800 rather then the S600 the S4 uses.

But the Note 2 is still a great device and since I can handle the bigger size I went with the Note 2. It's a great phone the display is just beautiful and you get much better battery life with the Note 2. I really couldn't get another phone. Out if every phone that's currently released. I find the Note 2 has the best all around power and it will play all the games on the market.

The Note 3 will be released in a few days but I'm loving my Note 2 and will wait for the Note 4.

Looks like I did, I thought he was comparing the Note 2 and the S4. :o

In that case, the Note 3 should be better. If rumours are correct, or at least close.

It seems the Note 3 will be a powerhouse. No taller then the Note 2, the length is smaller from side to side and it's thinner.

The screen is 5.68" rather then the Note 2's 5.55" screen. However it will seem much bigger due to it being 1080p and it's going to pack the S800 at 2.3ghz, so it will be a very powerful phone and with the 330 GPU it will play anything on the market with ease.

One great feature is it's much improved battery life on LTE. It will have what is known as a envelope tracker. That will give you up to 30% better battery life while connected to LTE.

I would love to say the Note 3 has a RGB display but it uses the pentile matrix. So it will not be as sharp as it could be. But from what I've read it's just as good as the Note 2's display if not better.

The S-pen features are also much more optimized. Nothing really new but the scrapbook now keep metadata that will allow much better use of the scrapbook rather then just saving parts of pictures ect.

It's definitely worth you're hard earned cash and will be one of the best if not thee best device for some time to come.

It also has been said to last about 4 hours longer screen time and much more standby time.

I would love to be able to get one.
