Help galaxy portal 2.2?

Hi In have just ordered a galaxy portal as a spare phone so didnt want to pay a lot, when I have looked at reviews they mention updates to android 2.2 but they were all posted last year is it now available?

We're still seeing conflicting reports about Froyo for the Portal. Have a look at this thread, for example:

I believe you can get 2.2 on your spica/portal, but you'd have to root the phone and "kitchen" yourself a custom version. If you have never used odin, then I wouldn't recommend it, but on the other hand, how else do you learn.
