me and my family went north to massachusetts and i was using my tmobile galaxy s3 lte for directions

is it normal for roaming to be activated
although i turned it off and wasnt able to use it the entire trip
if i go to georgia will the same thing happen
btw it was from NY to MA
thanks for the help

If you disabled the roaming option, no, it shouldn't have roamed.
(I don't have a S3 handy, but most Android phones have an option to disable data roaming, and a separate option to disable overall roaming - are you sure you disabled both?)

Whether roaming is needed or not will be determined by whether you have your carrier's coverage or not. From what I've heard, T-mo has great coverage in large cities, but when you go to the outskirts (or travel between states), their coverage is not as good, and may result in phone trying to roam (if roaming is enabled)
